Education Development Charges are used to fund the acquisition of school sites, and site related costs to accommodate growth-related pupil places.

Education Development Charges are collected by local municipalities on behalf of the Board. There are residential and non-residential education development charge rates on development of all lands within the Region of Halton, unless otherwise stated in the by-law. Education Development Charges are payable at the time of building permit issuance.

The effective implementation date of both Boards’ current EDC By-law is June 8, 2009. The By-law has a term of five (5) years.
