The
Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will be honouring Christ the King Catholic Secondary School on February 22, 2011, with the
Dr. Bette M. Stephenson Recognition of Achievement.
This honour will be presented in recognition of the school community’s dedication to student achievement and use of provincial assessment results to improve student learning, as well as the school’s leadership, positive attitude and sincere effort to help every student succeed.
“We are very honoured to be recognized by EQAO with the Dr. Bette M. Stephenson Recognition of Achievement,” says David DeSantis, Principal, Christ the King Catholic Secondary School, Georgetown. “This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of our entire school community - students, parents and exemplary teaching and support staff.”
This recognition program was established as a tribute to Dr. Bette M. Stephenson’s lifelong commitment and contribution to education and public service. As minister of both Education and Colleges and Universities from 1978 to 1985 and as an original member of EQAO’s Board of Directors, Dr. Stephenson has made an enormous contribution to public education in the province.
EQAO will be honouring 21 Ontario secondary schools during a special ceremony at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto. A team of representatives from Christ the King Catholic Secondary School will be present to receive this honour.
