FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Board Invites Community Input on the School Boundary Review for Milton Catholic Secondary Schools

At the October 2, 2012 Regular Meeting of the Halton Catholic District School Board, trustees unanimously approved an exception to the School Boundary Review Process (Board Policy I-29), to modify the upcoming Milton Catholic Secondary Schools boundary review process.

The school boundary review is being undertaken since the new Milton Catholic Secondary School, currently under construction at the corner of Louis St. Laurent Boulevard and Bronte Street South, is expected to be ready for student occupancy in September, 2013.

“We have initiated this change to the boundary review process in order to encourage and obtain a greater level of community input and engagement, as well as to streamline the process,” explains Toni Pinelli, Superintendent of Education, Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School and Associate Elementary Schools.

The School Boundary Review Process will remain essentially the same with the exception that the presentation of the Interim Report step to the Board will be removed, and an enhanced community consultation process will be implemented, similar to the process recently utilized by the Board for the review of Board Policy II – 41 School Uniform Dress Code, in the Spring of 2012.

The Board is inviting community members to attend a Community Consultation Meeting, on October 22, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cafetorium at Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School, 1120 Main Street East, Milton.
