The Tronic Titans have been very busy the past few months taking part in events within Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School and the surrounding community.

Over the summer, the Tronic Titans were presented with the unique opportunity of appearing on a children’s television show new to TVO called Giver. This show focuses on groups of children ages 6-9 working with their communities to revitalize their neighbourhood park. The Tronic Titans brought their robot, Eos, to talk with the kids about Science and Technology.

A great initiative this year is the newly designed FIRST Robotics Competition course. This is a credit earning course which will be taught by teachers from Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School during meeting hours. It is a great opportunity for members to complete a Grade 11 credit during meeting times. It is an interdisciplinary course that teaches aspects of programming, business, manufacturing and CAD (computer aided design). This course covers all of the important aspects of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and is the first of its kind in Canada.

On Thursday, September 16, 2011, the Tronic Titans gave a presentation at curriculum night, where they introduced parents and students to their robot and to the FIRST organization.

The Tronic Titans also held demonstrations at both the DR HOPE Pasta Dinner and Parent Teacher interview night, where they answered questions and taught parents and students about the Tronic Titans.

On Saturday, October 22, 2011, the Tronic Titans hosted their major annual fundraiser, the Ford Drive One 4UR School event, where people could come out and test drive a new Ford model for free. For every test drive Ford donated $20 to the Tronic Titans team. They also sold hamburgers and baked goods as part of their fundraising initiative.

The Tronic Titans held a demonstration at Midnight Madness in downtown Oakville on July 15, 2011, where they brought their robot to show the community what they do, and to talk to them about FIRST, hoping to get others interested in science and technology.

The Tronic Titans also presented to future Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School students at the Grade 9 orientation day on August 31, 2011, where they invited all Grade 9 students to join their team as new members this year.

The Tronic Titans are once again hosting the Halton Regional FLL Tournament, where they mentor several FLL teams that will be attending, along with other teams from the surrounding area. Teams will be competing and showcasing all of their hard work from the past few months on December 3, 2011.
