International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme

About the International Baccalaureate Programme

Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a not-for-profit foundation, which offers four high quality and challenging educational programmes to a worldwide community of schools. For over 40 years, IB programmes have gained a reputation for rigour and high academic standards, for preparing students for life in a globalized 21st century, and for helping to develop citizens who will create a better, more peaceful world.

In addition, IB programmes emphasize critical, compassionate thinking, community involvement, and intercultural understanding. For more information about the IB and its programs, visit www.ibo.org.

Currently, in the Halton Catholic District School Board, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Oakville is accredited to offer the IB Diploma Programme. As an IB World School, St. Thomas Aquinas is a proud member of a global community of over 3600 schools in 147 countries.
