Curriculum Focus

Our Mission Statement..."Our children at St. Michael will realize their potential, in an atmosphere steeped in Catholic values, through the interweaving of Family, School and Church in an equal partnership."...is integral to the daily life of our school.  St. Michael Catholic School is a place where minds are opened to learning and students are encouraged and supported in their spiritual, physical and intellectual growth.  Working together with the home, and the parish provides students with skills necessay to succeed not only in school, but ultimately, in life.  Working together, we can provide the best possible Catholic education for each and every one of our students!

Environmental Focus

At. St. Michael Catholic School we are striving to be the best stewards of the earth we can be.  In an effort to reduce waste, we strive to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can.  Each year, we bring in an educator from the Halton Region to review recycling and correct use of blue box and green carts.  Students are also involved in making announcements over the P.A. and in classrooms as reminders.  Students for grade 5 and 7  empty the blue boxes and green carts each week. Our efforts have made a dramatic difference in the amount of waste that goes to landfill sites.  Junior students are envited to be part of our Environmental Club. This year we will be encouraging staff and students to participate in litter-less lunches.

Parent Community Involvement

Each year we rely on parent volunteers in our efforts to enrich the educational environment of our children.  At. St. Michael, we are blessed with a dedicated and generous parent volunteer community.

At the beginning of each school year, a Volunteer Form is sent home.  This form lists the volunteer activities we have with a brief description of what is involved. Parents are also invited to make their own suggestions on this form.  This information is collected and organized by our parent volunteer coordinator who creates an email distribution list with the compliled information.  The email distribution list facilitates communication between the volunteers and the school.

Community Use of the School

The school is used after hours for Scouts, recreational sports and various St. Michael Church parish groups.

An empty classroom is used on Wednesdays for the Mother Goose Program.  This is a program for children 0-6 months and 7-12 months.  Parents and babies come together once a week for six weeks to learn lyrics, lullabies and stories that are overfowing with affection, finger plays, bounces and tickles.   Buggy Business is also offered in the other half of the day on Wednesdays.  This is a program for infants to 2 years.  This drop-in program focuses on exercise and conversation as the group power walks around the neighborhood with their strollers.  The group then returns to the school for a Circle/Storytime provided by the Oakville Public Library.
