The Retirement Club Halton Catholic District School Board HOME > The Retirement Club

The Retirement Cub is a social organization of retired employees (from all job-roles i.e. secretaries, administrators, custodians, elementary and secondary teachers, EA’s, etc.), who have retired from the Halton Catholic District School Board. Clifford G. Byrnes, a retired director of the H.C.D.S.B, established the Retirement Club in 1997. The purpose of the club is to renew and continue friendships in a social setting with former colleagues and associates of the Board.   To date, 205 retirees have accepted membership in the Retirement Club. We extend an invitation to our retired employees to join the club. The membership fee is $20.00 for 2007-2008. Partial membership for retirees from January to June is $10.00.

The success of the Club’s operation is dependent upon its volunteers, who assist in planning the events. RC’s Planning Committee is very flexible and meets 3 times a year to plan and organize events. Currently, 26 members sit on this committee. All members are welcome to attend the meetings, to share their ideas and/or assist in the organization of events. The election of the Standing Committee takes place each year in May.

Since the Retirement Club began over 7 years ago, many enjoyable social activities have been planned, by our dedicated and talented volunteers/retirees, some of which include:

• Weekly hikes and walks.

• Book club

• Card nights

• Day trips

• Theatre outings

• Monthly breakfasts

• Health and wellness workshops

• Spiritual retreats

• Annual Pot Luck Luncheon

• Annual General Meeting, Eucharistic Celebration and Luncheon. 

• Retirees are also invited to participate in the H.C.D.S.B. STAFF CHOIR.

As a member, you are kept informed on club events and happenings, through our monthly Newsletters, which are sent by email. Members without email receive them 3-4 times per year by regular mail. Members are also informed of additional social events, bereavement notices, and important news bulletins from the Board that are relevant to retirees. These are sent on a regular basis, by email from the club’s secretary.
