After more than 40 years of service to Catholic Education, Toni Pinelli will retire on August 31, 2020.
Toni Pinelli, Superintendent of Education (School Services), has announced her intent to retire on August 31, 2020.
Toni has served Catholic Education for over 40 years and across three school districts as a Teacher, Secondary School Department Head, Vice-Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. In 2009, Toni was appointed to the role of Superintendent of Education at HCDSB, and for more than a decade she has provided strong leadership during a period of tremendous growth in our Board, helping to navigate both the opportunities and challenges that have accompanied this growth.
Throughout her time with HCDSB, Superintendent Pinelli has held responsibilities for oversight of the Safe Schools program, Expulsion and Suspension programs, Alternative Education initiatives, and the International Student Program, in addition to her family of schools superintendent responsibilities. Toni was instrumental in the successful establishment of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School, as well as the introduction and expansion of Advanced Placement courses at several of our Secondary schools.
Toni Pinelli is known across our system as a very principled, hardworking, and dedicated member of the HCDSB senior leadership team. She has served as a mentor to a number of school administrators, supporting many along their own professional development and leadership discernment process. As one of our most experienced superintendents, Toni has consistently offered her critical perspective at the school level, with her colleagues, and at Board table discussions.
We are grateful to Superintendent Toni Pinelli for the strong leadership she has provided and for her many contributions to Catholic Education in our district and across the province. We wish her many blessings in all her future endeavours!
