Board Invites Applications for SEAC

The Halton Catholic District School Board invites Incorporated Parents' Associations and community members at large to join its Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).

Community Members

The Board requires a maximum of two “members-at-large” to serve on its Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).

The Committee, an advisory group to the Board, will bring forward information and recommendations regarding programs and services for students with exceptional needs.

“Members at large” must have the following qualifications:

  • A Canadian citizen of the age of 18 years or older;
  • A resident within the jurisdiction of the Halton Catholic District School Board;
  • A registered Catholic school supporter.

NOTE: Board employees are not eligible for appointment.

Incorporated Parents' Associations

Under Ontario’s Education Act, every school board must have a Special Education Advisory Committee that advises the Board on specific information, advice and assistance to parents/guardians whose children may require additional support. The committee makes recommendations to the Board concerning the establishment and development of Special Education programs and services.

The association or organization of parents must operate locally within the jurisdiction of the Board, and be affiliated with a provincial association/organization dedicated to the well-being or interests of exceptional children. The organization must be incorporated and must meet all other requirements as outlined in Regulation 464/97 for membership to SEAC.
