On Friday, April 13, 2012, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Elementary School in Milton hosted a “Farm Fresh Friday” event. There were four local farmers on hand, who did presentations on agriculture, soil and careers. The “Eggmobile” was also on site, which houses chickens and their eggs.

This event was a celebration of the “Farm to School” program that St. Anthony of Padua School is involved in. This community partnership is in keeping with the healthy snack program that runs twice a week, which is partially funded by Halton Food for Thought.

Aramark provided organic popcorn and apples were donated by a local apple farm for students to enjoy. Those in attendance included: Gary Carr, Halton Regional Chair; Gayle Cruikshank, Director, Halton Food for Thought, and Lorna Wilson, Coordinator, Farm to School program.
