Proposed 2017-2018 School Year Calendar
 



At the April 4, 2017 Regular Board Meeting, the Halton Catholic District School Board approved the proposed 2017-2018 School Year Calendar. This calendar will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.

The first day of school for Halton Catholic students is on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

The 2017-2018 professional activity (P.A.) days are: September 25, 2017; October 6, 2017; November 24, 2017; February 2, 2018; February 16, 2018; April 27, 2018; June 1, 2018 (elementary schools only); and June 29, 2018 (secondary schools only).

Quick Facts:

  • The school year calendar was developed through the work of the Board's School Year Calendar Committee, comprised of parent representatives of the Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC), OECTA Unit Presidents (elementary and secondary), CUPE 3166 and 5200 representatives, Principal Association representatives, and 1 Trustee.
  • The Education Act requires each school Board to establish a School Year Calendar, identifying instructional days, professional activity (P.A.) days and holidays for each school year.
  • The 2017-2018 School Year Calendar consists of 187 instructional days, of which 10 days (5 per semester) are classified as secondary school examination days.
  • 7 of the 7 elementary P.A. days, and 7 of the 7 secondary P.A. days align with the Halton District School Board. Both boards will have the same secondary school examination days.
