HCDSB Rated #8 of Ontario's Top 10 Energy Performing School Boards
During the 2016-2017 school year, the Halton Catholic District School Board has been rated #8 out of 10 in Ontario's Top Energy Performing School Boards.

During the 2016-2017 school year, the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) was announced as #8 of Ontario's Top 10 Energy Performing School Boards, by the Sustainable Schools program.

This award is testament to HCDSB's ongoing commitment to energy conservation and environmental stewardship. HCDSB has successfully placed in the Top 10 every year since Sustainable Schools began tracking all Ontario school boards in 2015!

There are currently 29 certified EcoSchools at HCDSB, and each school community is dedicated to the improvement of their own environment and energy footprint. As a school district, we continue to encourage members in our school communities to become environmentally responsible citizens, whether at home or at school.

What is Sustainable Schools?

The Sustainable Schools program is an innovative initiative that goes beyond energy reporting and benchmarking to establish energy targets for each individual school. The program marks how much energy each school and school board can save - this is known as the school's "conservation potential".

The ranking of each school board is determined by their conservation potential over the course of the school year.

Congratulations are extended to all participating school boards, and the HCDSB students, families, and staff for their commitment to conserve!
