HCDSB Approves a Balanced Budget for 2017-18

At the Regular Board Meeting held on June 20, 2017, the Halton Catholic District School Board approved the 2017-2018 Budget Estimates in the amount of $393,726,490.

Earlier this year, the Board initiated the 2017-2018 Budget Process with a series of Strategy Sessions.

The first session, held on April 4th provided an overview of the budget process, outlined Ministry of Education requirements with respect to school board budgets, and showed ways that the budget is aligned with our Strategic Plan.

The second session, held on April 18th outlined current budget challenges and priorities, and presented for consideration potential cost savings and revenue generating initiatives. For more information, read the Budget Information Summary here.

As a component of the budget process, staff initiated a consultation of key stakeholders to gather feedback on the 2017-2018 Budget. Feedback was gathered through three (3) methods: Telephone Town Hall; Online Survey; and Emailed Correspondence. The feedback gathered was provided to the Board of Trustees at the Regular Board Meeting held on May 16, 2017. Click here for more information about the budget consultation process.

The final report on the 2017-2018 Budget Estimates was presented to the Board of Trustees at the June 20th Board Meeting. Trustees voted to approve the final budget with no new initiatives.

The final Budget Estimates will be submitted to the Ministry of Education by June 30, 2017.
