The inaugural Empty Bowls to Eliminate Hunger event was held on November 30, at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Oakville.

The evening was a huge success, with net proceeds of $2673.46 donated to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Michael's Parish chapter!

Mr. Galante, an Arts Teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, along with the Visual Arts department handcrafted over 200 stoneware soup bowls for this event, with the creative support of grade 7 and 8 students from St. John and St. Michael Catholic Elementary Schools in Oakville.

Attendees on November 30th were able to pick up their pre-purchased handcrafted bowls or disposable bowls and enjoy meals of soup and bread.

The committee wishes to extend a huge thank you to the local community, students, families and staff who came out to support this fundraiser.

A simple meal of soup, bread and comradery was enjoyed by all who attended! The organizers would like to thank the Pottery Supply House, Chartwells (Compass Canada) catering, and Aveiro Bakery for their support of this initiative as well.
