Director of Education Announces Her Intent to Retire

At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, the Halton Catholic District School Board accepted, with regret, the notice of retirement of Paula Dawson, Director of Education, effective August 31, 2018.

"This district has always held a special place in my heart," says Paula Dawson. "Being appointed to the role of Director of Education for this Board in 2013 was a tremendous honour; an honour made even more special because I was coming back home."

Paula Dawson began her career in education in 1987, and has served in a multitude of roles at four Catholic school boards across Ontario: Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, the London District Catholic School Board, Wellington Catholic District School Board, and Halton Catholic District School Board.

In 2013 Paula Dawson became the sixth Director of Education, and the first female Director for the Halton Catholic District School Board.

"I have enjoyed a wonderful career as a Catholic teacher and leader, but it is time for me to pass the torch," says Paula Dawson. "I will be forever grateful for my association with this school board, and I wish all students, parents and staff continued success in the years ahead."

“Ms. Dawson is a very talented and knowledgeable Catholic educator,” says Diane Rabenda, Chair of the Board. “For the past five years the students and staff in the Halton Catholic District School Board have been blessed with Director Dawson's leadership, and we are grateful for her dedication to our Board, and her many contributions to Catholic education in Ontario. We wish her continued success and much happiness as she embarks upon the next chapter of her life’s journey.”

At the meeting on January 16th, the Board of Trustees voted to commence plans for the selection process of a new Director of Education.
