Welcome Centre Highlights a Successful School Year
As another school year draws to an end, the Settlement and Multicultural Team at the Halton Catholic District School Board's Welcome Centre looks back at a prosperous year.
The We​lcome Centre at the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) strives to connect our newcomers to each other and to fellow Canadians, while also promoting cultural knowledge and integrating all communities into one healthy, vibrant, and diverse society. As another school year draws to an end, the Settlement and Multicultural Team at HCDSB's Welcome Centre looks back at a prosperous school year. 

From providing information sessions to newcomer youths and families, coordinating several cultural activities, to offering Equity and Inclusivity education courses for Board staff, the Welcome Centre has worked hard to promote a diverse and welcoming environment in our Halton Catholic community.  

What's New in Settlement and Multicultural Services at HCDSB 

  • The Settlement and Multicultural Team has served 1,114 new clients through the Welcome Centre during the 2017-2018 school year.
  • The team has organized and presented over 80 youth sessions with over 6,000 youth participants throughout the year.
  • The team has coordinated over 15 Board-wide acivities for Family Day, Christmas and Easter Celebrations, as well as Black History, Asian Heritage and Hispanic Heritage Months.
  • The Welcome Centre has offered three Equity and Inclusivity education courses with over 50 participants from various staff groups.
