HCDSB Community Gathers for the Ground-Breaking of St. Nicholas School!
 



On Thursday, February 14, 2019, the Halton Catholic District School Board held a Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the new St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School.

Students, staff, trustees and members of the HCDSB community gathered to celebrate the start of construction for the new school building, which will be located at 477 Warminster Drive in Oakville.

The Honourable Lisa Thompson, Minister of Education, and Oakville MPP, Stephen Crawford, were in attendance.

QUICK FACTS:

  • Following a three-month Modified Pupil Accommodation and community consultation process, the Board of Trustees approved the Oakville South School Consolidation​​ of St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and St. James Catholic Elementary School in April, 2016.
  • In June 2017, the Ministry of Education announced approval to consolidate the St. James and the St. Joseph Catholic elementary school communities.
  • On December 11, 2018, the Ministry of Education provided final approval to proceed with the construction of the new St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School building.
  • St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School is scheduled to open in January, 2020.
  • The school will be designed as a two-story facility to accommodate 527 students.
