2019 Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics

On Thursday, June 6, 2019, students and staff from 22 schools across the Halton Catholic District School Board participated in the 32nd Annual Halton Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The 8 kilometre Law Enforcement Torch Run participants travelled along various routes throughout the community. On their route, the runners passed by
Ascension Catholic Elementary School, who held a school-wide event to cheer on the participants.

The torch run concluded at Sherwood Forrest Park, where students joined in carrying the torch on a community walk. Matthew D. from St. Marguerite Catholic Elementary carried the torch as he walked alongside Halton Regional Police Officers, civilian staff and volunteers, students and teachers from various schools, local Special Olympians, athletes, and citizens. Students from Ascension and St. Raphael Catholic Elementary School were also there to support the cause!

At the end of the walk, participants were treated to a barbeque, hosted by Halton Regional Police Services.

HCDSB schools also raised $800 to go towards the Special Olympics!

Congratulations to all of the students and staff who participated across our Board for their involvement in this important community event to support Special Olympics!
