HCDSB Board Elects New Chair & Vice-Chair at 2018 Inaugural Meeting

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, the Halton Catholic District School Board held its Inaugural Meeting and Installation Ceremony of the 2018-2022 Board of Trustees.

The ceremony, held at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School​ in Milton, began with a Eucharistic Celebration for Trustees and their families. The Very Reverend Cornelius O'Mahony, Vicar for Education, Diocese of Hamilton, presided over Mass and officiated during the commissioning ceremony.

Following the commissioning, the Honourable Mr. Justice J. M. Fragomeni of the Central West Superior Court of Justice, presided over the Oath of Allegiance and Declaration of Office for the newly elected Trustees and Student Trustees. Once the Board was declared legally constituted, the elections took place for Chair and Vice-Chair.

Peter DeRosa, Oakville Trustee was acclaimed as the new Chair, and Milton Trustee, Patrick Murphy, was acclaimed as Vice-Chair of the Board.

The term for the Chair and Vice-Chair is for a period of one year, commencing the first Board Meeting in December.

  • The Halton Catholic District School Board is allocated a maximum of nine (9) school board trustees. 
  • HCDSB Trustees represent 'at large' across each of the municipalities in Halton - Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville. 
  • Trustees meet on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of each month. Unless otherwise posted, Board Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Catholic Education Centre (802 Drury Lane, in Burlington). Learn more​
