Notes from the Heart – HCDSB Students Send Valentines to Vets!
Blurb written by Renata Dean, Curriculum Consultant at the Halton Catholic District School Board.

This year, HCDSB students were proud to once again take part in Valentines for Vets – a program run by Veterans Affairs Canada that sends Valentines greetings to men and women veterans and those brave individuals serving in the Canadian Armed Forces around the world.

An amazing 285 classes took part, creating Valentines cards and notes in English and French that will be sent to Charlottetown before making their way across the nation and into the pockets (and hearts!) of veterans and those in service. The messages, drawings, and heartfelt best wishes contained in the 6000 Valentines were crafted by students throughout HCDSB’s elementary schools, and we continue our proud tradition of being the largest school board producer of Valentines for Vets in the country!

St. Anne Catholic Elementary School and St. Mary Catholic Elementary School once again led the way as top contributors in the board, and HCDSB remains grateful for Purolator’s generosity in shipping the Valentines to Charlottetown.

Thank you to HCDSB students and staff for sharing your heartfelt messages with Canadian veterans, and individuals serving in the Canadian Armed Forces!
