HCDSB to Host Virtual Information Nights for Parents & Students
 
 



The Halton Catholic District School Board is pleased to host a variety of virtual information sessions for parents and students to learn more about the programs and educational pathways available.​

Advanced Placement (AP) Virtual Information Evenings

Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer enhanced learning and university-level content to students in secondary school.

Parents and students in Grades 7-9 who are interested in learning more about the AP Programme and application process are encouraged to attend one of the following virtual information sessions listed below:

International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme Virtual Information Evening

Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme offers high quality and challenging educational courses to a worldwide community of schools.

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School will host a Virtual IB Information Evening on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 7 to 9 p.m. All Grades 7 and 8 students and their parents interested in learning more about the IB Programme are encouraged to watch online.

*Please note that the Grade 9 pre-IB application will be available online starting the week of Monday, November 23rd, 2020.

Let's Talk About Pathways!

At the Grade 8 Parent Information Evenings scheduled this fall, parents and students can learn more about the various educational pathways available, leading to one of four destinations:  Apprenticeship, College, University, or Work.

Students and their parents are welcome to learn mo​re about the many regional programs available, and how to prepare for their chosen pathways: Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), Dual Credits, Specialty Programs and Cooperative Learning Opportunities.

Grade 8 Virtual Parent Information Evenings

Grade 8 Parent Information Evenings are intended to ease the transition to secondary school for students entering Grade 9 in September, 2021. These information sessions offer an overview of the Grade 9 program, and provide an opportunity for Grade 8 students and their parents to meet staff and learn more about the school.
