Loyola Life Skills Graduate Writes an Inspiring Play About Autism

St. Ignatius of Loyola Secondary School Life Skills graduate, Matteo Esposito, will share his passion for theatre with his play on Autism that is set to hit the stage on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in the St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School theatre in Oakville.

Matteo has always dreamed of writing, producing and directing a play. His newest play, Sorting IT Out, sheds light on ignorance in understanding disability, which resonates with Matteo as someone with multiple disabilities -- including Autism.

His first play, Will You Be My Valentine?, was staged in two venues in Halton a few years ago through the Take Flight Theatre Group as part of Community Living Oakville. He has also assisted the award-winning set designer Dr. Jane Coryell on various sets, who nominated Matteo for the Community Spirit Award, which he won!

"Through much passion, hard work and creativity, our son overcomes his daily challenges with the support of family and community together," said Matteo's mother, Yolanda Esposito. "He perseveres through life’s obstacles and continues to create wonderful pieces of work that teach society about acceptance and inclusion of those with disabilities."
