How to Register

Welcome to our Schools at the Halton Catholic District School Board! God's call to love and to serve is nurtured across our 46 elementary schools, 9 secondary schools, and 3 continuing education facilities, providing exceptional educational experiences and services to over 33,000 students of all ages. 

Here's what you need to know about registering your child for school:

Who can attend?

The Halton Catholic District School Board serves children ages 4 and older.

Where is my local Catholic school?

To determine the local Catholic school in your area, access our School Finder Tool. You can also determine if your child is eligible for student transportation to your Catholic home school by accessing the Geoquery tool​. Please contact our Planning and Assessment Services Department if you have any questions.

When can I Register?

Parents are welcome to register their child(ren) in our schools, beginning the week of August 28, 2017. Please note that hours of operation during the summer vary from school to school. Please contact your home school directly​ to determine hours of availability for registration, registration requirements, and to book an appoinment.

Parents can register their child for the upcoming school year or secondary school semester from September to June, during regular business hours. Please note that Kindergarten Registration takes place in January, but all elementary schools will continue to accept new registrations after this date.

Catholic Elementary School (Kindergarten to Grade 8) Admission Criteria

  • Proof of age
  • Roman or Eastern Rite Catholic baptismal certificate. If the child has no Roman/Eastern Rite Catholic baptismal certificate, the child may be admitted if one parent can provide a Roman/Eastern Rite Catholic baptismal certificate. For additional information, please refer to the Board's Operating Policy I-22
  • Evidence of completed prescribed program of immunization for diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles, mumps and rubella
  • Proof of address

Non-Catholic children of Non-Catholic parents should contact the Director’s Office via email or at 905-632-6300, ext. 115 to determine eligibility for enrolment. For more information about admission, please refer to the Board's Operating Policy I-22 or refer to the Frequently Asked Questions.

Additional Scenarios Requiring Permission to Attend a Catholic Elementary School:

  • Parent/Guardian wants their child to attend a Catholic elementary school, but the child has been baptized in another religion that is not Roman Catholic or Eastern Rite

Catholic Secondary School (Grades 9-12) Admission Criteria

  • Open to both Catholic & Non-Catholic students
  • If your child is new to one of our Catholic secondary schools and not transferring from one of our Catholic elementary schools; the following information is required at registration:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Immunization Record
    • Proof of Address

Ontario Student Record:
Student’s school record is requested by the receiving school, once the student is registered and in attendance at the school.

 

  • Roman Catholic or Eastern Rite Baptismal Certificate (elementary students)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • School Support (forms completed at time of registration)
  • Documentation of School Attendance (for students currently attending school) ​ 
  • Proof of Address
Student School Record:
Student records do not leave the province, however, parents can photocopy any school records and bring them to the new school.​
  • Roman Catholic or Eastern Rite Baptismal Certificate (elementary students)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • Proof of Health Insurance
  • School Support (forms completed at time of registration)
  • Documentation of School Attendance (for students currently attending school) ​ 
  • Proof of Address
  • Valid Student Authorization/Record of Landing Document from Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Student School Record:
Student records do not leave the country, however, parents can photocopy any school records and bring them to the new school.
 
Visa Students
The Halton Catholic District School Board
provides an inclusive educational environment that supports and enables diversity within our community.
 
Visa students may apply to attend schools within the Halton Catholic District School Board, provided that they meet the above requirements. In addition:
  • Each Visa student application will be considered in accordance with existing policies
  • A fee shall be calculated annually in accordance with the General Legislative Grants Regulation for that particular school year​
