HCDSB Additional Qualification Courses

The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) has been accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) as a provider for the following Additional Qualification (AQ) Courses:

 

  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Part I
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Part II
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Specialist Part III

These courses meet the OCT AQ course requirement of 125 hours. Three (3) sessions are offered throughout the year in the fall, winter and summer. Currently, these courses are only offered to permanent or occasional teachers who are employed by HCDSB.

Course Fees

Permanent Teachers with HCDSB
The Halton Catholic District School Board covers the cost of the Religious Education in Catholic Schools AQ courses for permanent HCDSB teachers. Permanent teachers wishing to take the course will be required to pay a holding fee of $100.00 at the time of registration. This $100.00 fee will be reimbursed to the candidate upon successful completion of the course.

Occasional Teachers (OT) and Long-term Occasional Teachers (LTO) with HCDSB
The cost of the Religious Education in Catholic Schools AQ courses for LTOs and OTs with the HCDSB is $550.00 per course. This fee is payable at the time of registration. LTOs and OTs who obtain a permanent teaching position with HCDSB will be reimbursed for the cost of the HCDSB Religious Education in Catholic Schools AQ, provided they have proof of payment and proof of successful completion of the course.

 

2019-2020 Course Offerings​

Courses are offered in a blended format. This format provides participants with an opportunity to participate in both face-to-face and online learning. Please note that face-to-face sessions are mandatory.
