This is a temporary position consisting of 34.6 hours per week with duties effective immediately, and terminating no later than June, 2021. Hours are subject to change based on needs.

*An annual allowance of $4,755.24 is paid to qualified Educational Assistants working as an Educational Assistant with American Sign Language Interpreter responsibilities. This allowance is only paid when an Educational Assistant is assigned interpreter duties based on an entire school year. Relative qualifications and eligibility will be determined solely by the Board.
Job Summary
Educational Assistants provide support to students with special needs. Educational Assistants must be willing and have the physical ability to support students with many diverse needs.
As instructed by the classroom teacher, duties include (but are not limited to) providing sign language or oral interpreting and/or note taking services in the classroom for a student with hearing loss; assist the deaf student with appropriate communication methods; assist with the implementation of program expectations outlined and directed by the classroom teacher, special education teacher and itinerant teacher; monitor the use and maintenance of personal or classroom amplification systems; assist in preparing materials and notes in conjunction with the appropriate teachers; assist in classroom activities and excursions.
Qualifications / Experience
- Community College Diploma/Interpreting Certificate.
- Ability to sign curriculum needs and foster social interaction within the class and school community.
- Knowledge regarding the culture of people who are deaf and hard of hearing.
- Demonstrated successful experience supporting individuals with special needs.
- Excellent reading, writing, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
