General Information

​The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) has been accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) as a provider for the following Additional Qualification (AQ) Courses:

Religious Education in Catholic Schools 

  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Part I 
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Part II
  • Religious Education in Catholic Schools: Specialist


  • Mathematics Primary & Junior: Part I
  • Mathematics, Primary Junior, Part 2

French as a Second Language (FSL)

  • French as a Second Language (FSL): Part I 

These courses meet the OCT AQ course requirement of 125 hours. Three (3) sessions are offered throughout the year in the fall, winter and summer. 

Course Format

All AQ courses will be offered online using Brightspace/D2L. The majority of the learning is asynchronous and may include up to 90 minutes per week of synchronous learning in the fall and winter sessions and up to 120 minutes per week in the summer session.

The Teaching Experience Form is required for all non-HCDSB applicants who are registering for a Part 2 or Specialist AQ course.

*A fee of $50.00 applies for course withdrawals on or before the course drop date. Course withdrawals after the drop date are not eligible for a refund and candidates will be charged the full course payment.  

Winter 2022

Registration for the Winter 2022 AQ courses is now CLOSED.

Registration for the Summer 2022 will begin on June 7, 2022.
