Getting vaccinated is an integral part in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The increase in vaccination rates help to reduce outbreaks and community spread of the virus, while allowing students, families and staff to safely resume normal activities. The Board will continue to work closely with Halton Region Public Health to promote vaccination.

Vaccination Disclosure Procedure for School Board Staff

On August 17, 2021, the Ontario government announced that to support the return to school plan, school boards should have in place a vaccination disclosure policy for all school board employees.

Follow up correspondence received from the Ministry of Education indicated that in addition to all school board employees, the immunization disclosure policy will also apply to any individuals regularly in our schools.

This may include:

  • trustees
  • occasional teachers and staff
  • volunteers
  • unpaid learners (such as student teachers)
  • school bus drivers
  • those who provide professional services for children at school
  • frequent visitors, including third-party contractors, who regularly interact with or are in the presence of students and/or staff

At this time, school boards have not been directed to collect vaccination status of students. We are currently working through the procedure to implement this requirement and are awaiting further direction from the Ministry.

All staff, students and visitors must follow all COVID-19 preventative measures, regardless of their vaccination status.
